The NGO Delegation commends the UNAIDS Secretariat Staff Association for such an open and transparent report which not only highlights achievements but also acknowledges the challenges and gaps which need to be addressed.
We express concern in the unacceptable delays caused to staff in regards to the reimbursements of staff health insurance claims. We are also concerned to hear of incidents of harassment and ill-treatment in the work place. However we are encouraged to see that the Staff Association is aware of these issues and will continue to work towards finding resolutions.
We also note the challenges of trying to continue to do more with less as headquarters staff has decreased, while robust targets in halting and reversing the epidemic remain. We empathize with overstretched staff. We ask, for example, if remote working is a viable option that can be more integrated into UNAIDS systems.
