The 55th UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board (PCB) thematic segment topic will be “Addressing inequalities in children and adolescents to End AIDS by 2030” andwill take place in Nairobi, Kenya, on 12 December 2024.
The thematic segment will provide an opportunity for the PCB to discuss addressing inequalities in adolescents and children in the HIV response including structural barriers to accessing HIV prevention, treatment and care services; health systems and service improvements; gaps in funding; and the key elements for scaling up interventions to ensure adequate coverage of children and adolescents. In particular, the thematic segment will focus on the following issues:
- Lessons from the past and present to use evidence-based and age appropriate (newborns, infants, children and adolescents) interventions and scale for impact;
- Innovations to accelerate the progress to reach the 2030 targets in order to end AIDS as a public health threat;
- Recommendations for actions ensuring that the enabling environment, transformative partnerships, and responses are outlined to close the gaps at national, regional and global levels.
Examples and learning from countries from different regions and across the Joint Programme will be highlighted during the thematic segment.
