The world is not on-track to achieve its ambitious HIV targets for children and youth. Progress in preventing new HIV infections among children, adolescents and young people remains too slow, and progress in increasing antiretroviral treatment coverage for pregnant women, children and young people has stalled.
Key questions and objectives of the meeting:
- Analyse the impact of AIDS on children, adolescents and youth through the life course from childhood to adulthood by age range [0-4] [5-9] [10-14] [15-19] [20-24];
- Showcase areas where notable successes/progress in HIV-related outcomes for children, adolescents, and youth have been achieved and discuss the key factorsthat led to those successes; and
- Identify the key priority actions that will allow countries with different epidemiologicalcontexts to scale-up rights-based HIV prevention, treatment and care and programmes to protect HIV-related human rights by age group, location and population specificities.
