The 54th UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board (PCB) thematic segment focuses on “Sustaining the gains of the global HIV response to 2030 and beyond” and will take place on 27 June 2024. The thematic segment will highlight examples of learning from countries in different regions across the Joint Programme. UNAIDS seeks case studies of successful programs and approaches to inform the session.
The thematic segment will provide an opportunity for the PCB to discuss sustainability, including rationale, urgency, challenges, opportunities, and key elements for sustainability planning, including immediate, short–, medium– and long-term priorities and processes. In particular, the thematic segment will focus on the following issues:
- Considerations for innovations and fast-tracking the necessary foundations for the sustainability of the HIV response now, up to 2030, and beyond 2030;
- Considerations from lessons from the past and present to explore opportunities for sustaining impact towards 2030 and beyond;
- Recommendations for actions ensuring that the enabling environment, partnerships, responses, and roadmaps are outlined at national, regional, and global levels.
Scope of case studies
Specifically, UNAIDS is seeking details on the following:
- Approaches for sustainability planning to sustain impact:
- Political and financial dimensions
- Epidemiological and programmatic dimensions
- Community Leadership and Rights Dimensions
- Innovations, science, and financing
- Lessons from the past and present to explore opportunities for sustaining impact towards 2030 and beyond, including:
- People-led and centered responses
- Multisectoral considerations
- Enabling policies, environments
- Innovations
- Integration of the HIV response into PHC/UHC and pandemic prevention, preparedness and response (PPPR), and other aspects of convergence/integration
Who can submit case studies?
UNAIDS welcomes submissions from national AIDS programmes; Ministries of Health, and other relevant Ministries; civil society organisations; academic institutions; national human rights institutions; United Nations system and other international organizations; and other national or local entities involved in the work on HIV.
How will the submissions be used?
The submissions will be used to inform the background note to the UNAIDS 54th PCB Thematic Segment. Some submissions may also be selected to be presented during the Thematic Day on 27 June 2024. Finally, all the submissions received before the deadline will be compiled in a document on good practices which will be posted on the UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board website.
